We reduce materials to the landfill through a state-of-the-art and comprehensive approach to managing materials.
REDUCE EXAMPLE: PLEASE STOP USING SINGLE SOURCE BOTTLES
BRING YOUR household recyclables, yard waste, paper, wood, plastics, metals, cardboard, and more. It is our goal to collect, recover, recycle and reuse as much material as possible to keep renewable items out of the landfill.
Here are some easy ways to reduce the amount of waste you generate:
- Bring your own shopping bag.
- Stop buying bottled water.
- Bring your own thermos to the coffee shop.
- Choose cardboard over plastic bottles and bags.
- Say no to straws.
- Skip the disposable razor.
We promote reuse through bulky item collection and drop-off programs to ensure usable goods never enter the waste stream.
REUSE EXAMPLE: YARD WASTE COMPOST
The Recycling Center & Transfer Station accepts and recycles yard waste. The yard waste is ground up and sent to a composting facility where it gets composted. We accept Brush, Hay, Ground Clippings, Leaves, Flowers, Grass, Tree Trimmings, Wood Chips, Garden Trimmings, Shrubbery, House Plants, Twigs & Branches.
We offer best-in-class technology, customer outreach and programs to recycle materials that are collected for highest and best use.
RECYCLE EXAMPLE: CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS
We sort through construction and demolition debris and recycle them. You can drop-off your debris, or use a convenient debris box on your job site for larger projects.
We operate our business with the highest level of respect to our customers, commitments to the cities we serve and to the environment.
RESPECT EXAMPLE: EDUCATION
MDRR CENTER TOURS
Recycling is most successful when we are all educated. Mt. Diablo Recycling offers facility tours of the daily operation. The tour is about 45 minutes long. If you would like to set up a tour, please call: (925) 682-4518. We also offer special materials for children to help them understand the importance of the 5Rs.
We are on the cutting edge of recovery programs to include partnerships to collect edible food that is provided to those in our communities that are in need.
RECOVER EXAMPLE: ELECTRONIC WASTE
E-Waste such as CRTs, Printers, Computer Monitors, TVs, VCRs, and Copy Machines, are sorted and recovered – then sent to a facility where they are dismanted and salvaged.
In 2018, MDRR launched an educational website dedicated to helping understand the process and benefits of clean recycling. For more information on how to recycle clean, please go to
