The City of Rio Vista Household Hazardous Waste Event

When: Saturday, October 26, 2023 – 8 AM – 2 PM
Where: Northwest Water Treatment Plant – 3000 Airport Rd. Rio Vista, CA 94571
Household Hazardous Waste: Many products in your home contain hazardous components, such as certain paints, cleaners, stains and varnishes, batteries (including automobile batteries), motor oil, pesticides, and fluorescent tubes. Residents of Rio Vista can safely and conveniently dispose of household hazardous waste at the designated disposal site.
Regulations: State law limits the total amount you may transport in one vehicle to 125 pounds or 15 gallons. Wastes must be transported by a household resident who generated the waste, and it is limited to a single drop-off per event. The city reserves the right to refuse waste beyond these limits, and commercial hazardous waste will not be accepted at this event.
OKAY TO BRING:
- Paint (stain, shellac, solvents, thinners, additives, oil-based paint, latex paint)
- Adhesives (putty, caulk, epoxy, mortar, stucco, cement, wood glue)
- Auto (fuel, waxes, batteries, additives, motor oil, oil filters, antifreeze)
- Garden (sprays, fertilizers, ant traps, pesticides, herbicides, rat poison, gopher bait)
- Miscellaneous (propane, pool chemicals, photo chemicals, acids and caustics, household batteries, bleach and cleaners, fluorescent bulbs)
NOT ALLOWED: E-waste, tires, explosives, ammunition, radio-actives, pharmaceuticals, or bio-medical waste (Sharps).
Rio Vista residents within city limits with active collection service from MDRR are eligible to make drop-offs. Please be sure to bring proof of residency.
